Inserted: Sec. __. (a) None of the funds made available in this Act may be used to purchase a vehicle for the Federal government that is not fuel-efficient to the greatest extent possible, consistent with other federal laws.
Inserted: (b) Not later than 6 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall submit to Congress a report on the number and type of vehicles purchased by the Federal government, including the fuel economy of such vehicles.

SA 3781. Mrs. BOXER submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill H.R. 4939, making emergency supplemental appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2006, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the appropriate place, insert the following:
FUEL-EFFICIENT VEHICLES
Sec. __. (a) None of the funds made available in this Act may be used to purchase a vehicle for the Federal government that is not fuel-efficient to the greatest extent possible, consistent with other federal laws.
