Mr. HAGEL submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill H.R. 1585, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2008 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the end of subtitle A of title VI, add the following:
SEC. 604. GUARANTEED PAY INCREASE FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENTAGE POINT HIGHER THAN EMPLOYMENT COST INDEX.
Section 1009(c)(2) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking “fiscal years 2004, 2005, and 2006” and inserting “fiscal years 2009 through 2012”.
