Inserted: Section 596 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (Public Law 110-181; 10 U.S.C. 1168 note) is amended--
Inserted: (1) by inserting "(a) Election to Forward Certificate to VA Offices.--" before "The Secretary of Defense"; and
Inserted: (2) by adding at the end the following new subsection:
Inserted: "(b) Inclusion of Email Address.--The Secretary of Defense shall further modify the DD Form 214 in order to permit a member of the Armed Forces to include an email address on the form.".

Mr. UDALL of New Mexico (for himself and Mr. Bingaman) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 1390, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2010 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the end of subtitle G of title V, add the following:
SEC. 573. INCLUSION OF EMAIL ADDRESS ON CERTIFICATE OF RELEASE OR DISCHARGE FROM ACTIVE DUTY (DD FORM 214).
Section 596 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (Public Law 110-181; 10 U.S.C. 1168 note) is amended--
