Inserted: Section 10603(b) of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (7 U.S.C. 612c 4(b)) is amended--
Inserted: (1) by striking "The Secretary" and inserting the following:
Inserted: "(1) In general.--The Secretary";
Inserted: (2) in paragraph (1) (as so designated), by striking "2012" and inserting "2017"; and
Inserted: (3) by adding at the end the following:
Inserted: "(2) Department of defense program option.--A school or service institution described in paragraph (1) may carry out this section by--
Inserted: "(A) electing to participate in the Department of Defense fresh fruit and vegetable distribution program;
Inserted: "(B) under such terms and conditions as the Secretary shall establish, purchasing locally and regionally grown fruits and vegetables with amounts that would have been used by the school or service institution to participate in the Department of Defense fresh fruit and vegetable distribution program; or
Inserted: "(C) carrying out a combination of the activities described in subparagraphs (A) and (B).".

SA 2324. Mr. SANDERS (for himself and Mr. Leahy) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 3240, to reauthorize agricultural programs through 2017, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
On page 345, strike lines 5 through 10 and insert the following:
SEC. 4201. PURCHASE OF FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES FOR DISTRIBUTION TO SCHOOLS AND SERVICE INSTITUTIONS.
Section 10603(b) of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (7 U.S.C. 612c 4(b)) is amended--
