Inserted: (a) In General.--Not later than February 15, 2014, the Commandant of the Marine Corps shall provide a written report and briefing to the congressional defense committees on the operational risk to the ability of the Marine Corps to meet its obligations under the Department of Defense's Defense Strategic Guidance issued on January 5, 2012.
Inserted: (b) Content.--The report and briefing required under subsection (a) shall provide an evaluation of any operational risk imposed by the current and planned number of amphibious warfare ships in the amphibious assault force as well as a review of the capabilities of these ships to meet the needs of the Marine Corps.

Mr. WICKER (for himself, Mr. Kaine, and Mr. Cochran) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 1197, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2014 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:

SEC. 1066. REPORT ON FUTURE AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT FORCE.
