SA 2547. Mr. BENNET (for himself, Mr. Hickenlooper, and Mrs. Gillibrand) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 4638, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2025 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the end of subtitle A of title X, insert the following: SEC. 1006. CONTINUING APPROPRIATIONS TO SUPPORT FACULTY AND CAMPUS OPERATIONS AT THE SERVICE ACADEMIES IN THE EVENT OF A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. (a) In General.--For any period in which there is a lapse in appropriations for the Department of Defense, there are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as are necessary to provide-- (1) pay to faculty members at the Service Academies; and (2) funding for mixed-funded athletic and recreational extracurricular programs of the Service Academies, to the extent such funding is not available from non-appropriated funds sources. (b) Termination.--Appropriations and funds made available and authority granted for any fiscal year under subsection (a) shall be available until whichever of the following first occurs: (1) The enactment into law of an appropriation (including a continuing appropriation) for the purposes for which amounts are made available under subsection (a). (2) The enactment into law of a regular appropriation Act, or a law making continuing appropriations until the end of the fiscal year, without any appropriation for such purposes. (c) Service Academy Defined.--In this section, the term ``Service Academy'' has the meaning given such term in section 347 of title 10, United States Code. ______
