SA 3009. Mr. HICKENLOOPER submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 4638, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2025 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title X, insert the following: SEC. ___. PERIODIC INTELLIGENCE ASSESSMENTS ON CERTAIN EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE. Title XI of the National Security Act of 1947 (50 U.S.C. 3231 et seq.) is amended by adding at the end the following new section (and conforming the table of contents at the beginning of such Act accordingly): ``SEC. 1115. PERIODIC INTELLIGENCE ASSESSMENTS ON CERTAIN EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE. ``(a) Requirement.--Not later than the date that is 6 years after the date of the enactment of this section, and on a basis that is not less frequent than once every 6 years thereafter, the Director of National Intelligence, acting through the National Intelligence Council, shall-- ``(1) produce an intelligence assessment on the national security and economic security effects of climate change; and ``(2) submit to the congressional intelligence committees such intelligence assessment. ``(b) Form.--Each intelligence assessment under subsection (a)(2) may be submitted in classified form, but if so submitted, shall include an unclassified executive summary.''. ______
