SA 3192. Mr. BENNET (for himself, Mr. Hickenlooper, and Mrs. Gillibrand) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 4638, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2025 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel [[Page S5557]] strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the end of subtitle A of title X, insert the following: SEC. 1006. SUPPORT FOR FACULTY AND CAMPUS OPERATIONS AT THE SERVICE ACADEMIES IN THE EVENT OF A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. (a) In General.--In the event of a lapse in appropriations for the Department of Defense, the Secretary of Defense shall ensure the continuation of-- (1) pay to faculty members at the Service Academies; and (2) funding for mixed-funded athletic and recreational extracurricular programs of the Service Academies, to the extent such funding is not available from non-appropriated funds sources. (b) Service Academy Defined.--In this section, the term ``Service Academy'' has the meaning given such term in section 347 of title 10, United States Code. ______
