SA 772. Mr. HEINRICH submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 2226, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2024 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the end of subtitle F of title III, add the following: SEC. 359. CONSIDERATION OF SUPPORT SERVICES AT REMOTE OR ISOLATED INSTALLATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE. (a) In General.--Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, in collaboration with the Secretary of each military department and the Commandant of the Marine Corps, shall-- (1) develop a policy for designating installations of the Department of Defense in the United States as remote or isolated that includes a process for considering health care, housing, and other support services for members of the Armed Forces and their dependents; and (2) systematically assess the risk associated with not having needed support services for members of the Armed Forces and their dependents stationed in remote or isolated areas and develop strategies to provide such services. (b) Briefing.--Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a briefing on the implementation of the requirements under subsection (a). (c) Report.--Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report on the implementation of the requirements under subsection (a). ______
