SA 3027. Ms. DUCKWORTH submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill H.R. 3944, making appropriations for military construction, [[Page S4707]] the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title II of division A, insert the following: SEC. 2__. NOTICE AND HATCH ACT EVALUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS VISITS TO MEDICAL FACILITIES OF DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS. (a) Notice Requirement for Official Site Visits.-- (1) In general.--Not later than the date that is 30 days before the date on which the Secretary of Veterans Affairs visits a medical facility of the Department of Veterans Affairs for official business of the Secretary and acting in the Secretary's capacity as the Secretary, the Secretary shall provide the appropriate individuals notice of the intent of the Secretary to visit the facility. (2) Appropriate individuals.--For purposes of paragraph (1), the appropriate individuals are, with respect to a visit to a medical facility of the Department-- (A) the head of the medical facility; (B) the Senator of the State in which the medical facility is located; and (C) the Member of the House of Representatives of the congressional district in which the medical facility is located. (b) Hatch Act Evaluation Before Site Visits.--The Secretary may not visit a medical facility of the Department for any reason without first obtaining an opinion from the General Counsel of the Department as to whether that visit would violate a requirement of subchapter III of chapter 73 of title 5, United States Code (often referred to as the ``Hatch Act''). ______
