A BILL
To suspend the implementation of the revised definitions of
Metropolitan Statistical Areas applicable to Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon,
and Allegan Counties in the State of Michigan.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. STAYING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW MSAS IN WEST MICHIGAN.
(a) In General.--Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
revised definitions of Metropolitan Statistical Areas (OMB Bulletin No.
03-04) applicable to Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, and Allegan Counties in
the State of Michigan are stayed from taking effect until October 1,
2004.
(b) Continuation of Old Definitions.--The definitions of
Metropolitan Statistical Areas in effect before the revised definitions
shall continue to apply to such counties for the period of the stay in
subsection (a).
