To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend for 1 year the first-time homebuyer tax credit.
Short title
This Act may be cited as the
Homebuyer Tax Credit Renewal Act of
2011

One-year extension of first-time homebuyer credit
In general
Paragraph (1) of
section 36(h) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting
before the period at the end the following: , or during the 1-year
period beginning on the date of the enactment of the
Homebuyer Tax Credit Renewal Act of
2011
.
Effective date
The amendment made by this section shall apply to purchases on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.
