Mr. Heller introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs

A BILL

To amend title 38, United States Code, to consolidate certain eligibility tiers under the Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

1.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Guard and Reservists Education Improvement Act.

2.

Consolidation of certain eligibility tiers under Post-9/11 Educational Assistance Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs

(a)

Entitlement

Section 3311(b) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—

(1)

in paragraph (6)(A), by striking 12 months and inserting 6 months;

(2)

by striking paragraph (7); and

(3)

by redesignating paragraphs (8) and (9) as paragraphs (7) and (8), respectively.

(b)

Amount of educational assistance

Section 3313(c) of such title is amended by striking paragraph (7).

(c)

Conforming amendments

Sections 3311, 3313, 3316, 3322, and 3679 of such title are further amended—

(1)

in section 3311(f), by striking paragraph (9) each place it appears and inserting paragraph (8);

(2)

in section 3313—

(A)

in subsection (c)(1), in the matter before subparagraph (A), by striking (9) and inserting (8);

(B)

in subsection (d), by striking paragraphs (2) through (7) each place it appears and inserting paragraphs (2) through (6);

(C)

in subsection (e)(2)(C)—

(i)

by striking paragraphs (3) through (8) and inserting paragraphs (3) through (7); and

(ii)

by striking paragraphs (2) through (7) and inserting paragraphs (2) through (6);

(D)

in subsection (f)(2)(A)(ii), by striking paragraphs (2) through (7) and inserting paragraphs (2) through (6);

(E)
