The bill seeks to cancel the executive order issued on Jan. 27, 2017 that temporarily barred people from several countries from entering the United States. By rescinding that order, the legislation would restore the ability of those individuals to travel to the U.S. and remove the order’s legal force.

Key Provisions

  • Repeals Executive Order 13769, which limited entry of nationals from certain countries, so it no longer has any legal effect.
  • Sets the repeal to take effect as if it were enacted on Jan. 27, 2017, making the change retroactive.
