The bill stops any reduction in per‑diem payments for members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and for Department of Defense civilian employees that is based on how long a temporary‑duty (TDY) assignment or official travel lasts. It changes the law so the per‑diem amount cannot be lowered because of the assignment’s duration, affecting all service members and DoD civilian staff who travel for work.

Key Provisions

  • Adds a new rule to 37 U.S.C. §474(d)(3) that the Secretary of a military department may not change a service member’s per‑diem amount or maximum reimbursement based on TDY length.
