The Robocall Enforcement Enhancement Act of 2019 changes the Communications Act to give regulators more time to pursue violations related to illegal robocalls. It extends the period during which the Federal Communications Commission can bring enforcement actions, affecting telephone service providers and anyone who makes prohibited automated calls.

Key Provisions

  • Increases the statute of limitations for providing false caller ID information from two years to three years.
  • Extends the limitation period for violations involving automated telephone equipment: generally one year, but three years for specific robocall violations under section 227(b)(1).
  • Modifies the language on imposing forfeitures so that they can be applied in cases of the same robocall violations referenced in the extended limitation periods.
