AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 14, 2026 at 6:07 AM UTC

The Children Don't Belong on Tobacco Farms Act would change the Fair Labor Standards Act to treat any work by people under 18 that involves direct contact with tobacco plants or dried tobacco leaves as oppressive child labor. By doing so, it would ban the employment of minors on tobacco farms and related agricultural work.

Key Provisions

  • Adds a new category of child labor that includes any employee under 18 who has direct contact with tobacco plants or dried tobacco leaves.
  • Expands the list of occupations exempt from child‑labor rules to specifically include tobacco‑related agriculture, thereby making such work prohibited for minors.
