Introduced June 22, 2022

AI-Generated Summary

Updated February 8, 2026 at 4:18 PM UTC

The Affordable and Accessible Infant Formula Act temporarily eliminates import duties on certain infant‑formula products to help keep them affordable. It adds specific tariff codes that make these formulas duty‑free for a limited window—from the law’s start date until November 14, 2022. The measure applies to companies that import the formula and requires them to provide the appropriate classification information on customs forms.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the Harmonized Tariff Schedule to create new subheadings for infant‑formula products that are classified as duty‑free.
  • The duty‑free treatment applies only to formula entered or withdrawn from a warehouse between the law’s enactment and November 14, 2022.
  • During that period, the formula is exempt from any additional safeguard duties, quotas, tariff‑rate quotas, or other fees that would normally apply.
  • Importers must list the product’s existing tariff classification and the new duty‑free classification on their customs entry paperwork.
