Helping Startups Continue To Grow Act

Introduced April 13, 2023

AI-Generated Summary

Updated January 20, 2026 at 6:14 AM UTC

The Helping Startups Continue To Grow Act changes how an "emerging growth company" is defined under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. It raises the revenue ceiling from $1 billion to $2 billion and extends the qualifying period from five years to ten years. These adjustments broaden which startups can qualify for reduced reporting and compliance requirements, affecting early‑stage companies and the SEC’s oversight rules.

Key Provisions

  • Increases the maximum annual revenue for an emerging growth company from $1 billion to $2 billion.
  • Extends the allowed operating period for emerging growth company status from five years to ten years.
  • Removes certain subparagraphs and punctuation that previously limited the definition, simplifying the criteria.
