Crow Revenue Act

Introduced June 3, 2024

AI-Generated Summary

Updated January 20, 2026 at 5:03 PM UTC

The Crow Revenue Act transfers specific federal and privately held mineral lands in Montana into trust for the Crow Tribe of Montana. It moves the Hope Family Tracts to the Tribe and swaps the Bull Mountains Tracts to the Hope Family Trust, then places the Tribe‑owned minerals under federal trust. The bill also bars state taxes on those minerals, sets up a revenue‑sharing formula, and confirms that the Tribe’s other federal benefits are unchanged.

Key Provisions

  • Defines the Bull Mountains Tracts (about 4,530 acres subsurface and 940 acres surface) and Hope Family Tracts (about 4,660 acres subsurface) in specific Montana locations.
  • Requires the Hope Family Trust to convey the Hope Family Tracts to the Crow Tribe, and the Secretary of the Interior to convey the Bull Mountains Tracts to the Hope Family Trust within 60 days.
  • Places the Tribe‑owned mineral interests into federal trust at the Tribe’s request.
  • Prohibits state or local taxation of the Tribe‑owned mineral interests.
  • Requires the Tribe and Hope Family Trust to agree on a revenue‑sharing formula for any future development of the mineral interests.
