This joint resolution directs Congress to reject a rule the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) submitted that would withdraw the existing Regulation F rule on deceptive and unfair collection of medical debt. By disapproving the withdrawal, the resolution keeps the original consumer‑protection rule in force, affecting the CFPB, debt collectors, and consumers with medical debt.

Key Provisions

  • Congress formally disapproves the CFPB’s proposed rule that would remove the Regulation F provisions on deceptive and unfair medical debt collection.
  • The disapproval means the withdrawal rule has no legal effect, so the original Regulation F requirements remain applicable.
