The No Surprise Bills for Seniors Act changes the Social Security Act so that the government can treat a loss of Medicare prescription drug coverage caused by missed premium payments as an involuntary termination in certain situations. This gives the Health and Human Services Secretary flexibility to decide, via rulemaking, when a nonpayment‑related loss of coverage should not be counted against seniors. It mainly affects seniors who rely on Medicare drug plans and could face penalties for missing payments.
