Stop Illegal Super PAC Coordination Act

To prohibit Joint Fundraising Committees that include Federal candidates and Independent Expenditure-Only Political Committees from making disbursements on paid media.

Introduced October 15, 2026

AI-Generated Summary

Updated November 4, 2026 at 3:50 AM UTC

The Stop Illegal Super PAC Coordination Act would bar joint fundraising committees that bring together a federal candidate (or the candidate’s authorized committee) and an independent‑expenditure‑only political committee (a Super PAC) from spending money on paid advertising, such as TV, cable, satellite or digital ads. Any such payment would be treated as a coordinated contribution, meaning the full amount counts as a contribution to each candidate involved. The rule does not apply to joint fundraising committees made up only of candidates, their authorized committees, or party committees, and it would take effect immediately upon enactment.

Key Provisions

  • Joint fundraising committees that include both a candidate (or the candidate’s authorized committee) and a Super PAC may not make any disbursement for paid media, regardless of whether the ad asks for donations.
  • If a prohibited payment is made, it is considered a coordinated contribution, and the entire amount is counted as a contribution to each candidate from each Super PAC in the committee.
  • The prohibition does not apply to joint fundraising committees whose participants are only candidates, their authorized committees, or political party committees.
