Disclosing Foreign Influence in Lobbying Act

Introduced March 5, 2025

AI-Generated Summary

Updated November 24, 2025 at 2:11 AM UTC

The Disclosing Foreign Influence in Lobbying Act updates the 1995 Lobbying Disclosure Act so that lobbyists must disclose when foreign governments or political parties are involved in shaping their lobbying work. This adds transparency about foreign influence in U.S. lobbying and applies to any registered lobbyist who works with such foreign entities.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the Lobbying Disclosure Act to require lobbyists to list the name and address of any foreign government (including its agencies or subdivisions) or foreign political party—other than the client—that helps direct, plan, supervise, or control the lobbyist’s activities.
  • Makes minor wording edits to the existing text (removing an extra “and” and adjusting phrasing around “the offense”).
