The Indo‑Pacific Space Partnership Act of 2026 directs the commander of U.S. Space Command to prepare a feasibility study on expanding the Multinational Force Operation Olympic Defender to include additional Indo‑Pacific allies such as Japan and the Republic of Korea. The report must be delivered to the relevant House and Senate Armed Services and Foreign Affairs/Relations committees within one year of the law’s enactment. The bill aims to assess how such an expansion would affect U.S. national security and what policy or funding changes would be required.

Key Provisions

  • Within one year, the U.S. Space Command commander must submit a report to the designated congressional committees on the feasibility and advisability of adding Indo‑Pacific allies to Operation Olympic Defender.
  • The report must describe current activities and initiatives related to expanding the force, and identify any policy changes the partner nations (e.g., Japan, South Korea) would need to make.
  • It must outline any U.S. funding or policy adjustments needed to support the accession of those allies.
  • The assessment must evaluate the impact on U.S. national security, the feasibility and national interest of the expansion, and any additional resources or authorities required from the executive and legislative branches.
