The Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2026 extends the federal terrorism insurance program that was created in 2002. It pushes the program’s end date out to 2034 and updates several dates that trigger mandatory recoupment of funds. The changes affect insurers, policyholders, and the federal government’s role in covering terrorism-related losses.

Key Provisions

  • Extends the program’s termination date from 2027 to 2034.
  • Updates the schedule for mandatory recoupment of funds, moving the relevant dates forward (e.g., from 2022 to 2029, from 2024 to 2031, and other similar adjustments through 2036).
