The Taxpayer Funded Compensation Accountability Act would cap the pay of federal political appointees so that they cannot earn more than a sitting member of Congress. It applies to a range of high‑level, non‑career positions in the executive branch, but does not affect the Vice President.

Key Provisions

  • Defines "political position" to include senior executive roles, Schedule C policy‑making jobs, certain special government employees, and other non‑career executive posts, while specifically excluding the Vice President.
  • Sets a hard limit that the annual basic salary for any political appointee cannot exceed the annual basic salary of a Senator or a Representative.
  • Provides a short title for the law: the Taxpayer Funded Compensation Accountability Act.
