The Alaska Native Vietnam Era Veterans Land Allotment Fulfillment Act of 2026 expands the amount of federal land that eligible Alaska Native Vietnam‑era veterans can claim under the existing land‑allotment program. It makes certain wildlife refuge lands and additional Forest Service lands in Alaska available for selection, while setting limits on which lands can be offered.

Key Provisions

  • All federal lands identified in a 2020 Fish and Wildlife Service report as suitable for allotment are made immediately available for eligible veterans.
  • The definition of “available federal land” is amended to include vacant, unappropriated lands that are unreserved and located within National Forest or National Wildlife Refuge units.
  • Within one year, the Secretary of Agriculture, in consultation with state and local Alaska entities, must identify additional Forest Service lands that can be offered to eligible veterans, excluding lands that would interfere with forest management plans, are within 300 feet of navigable water, are designated wilderness, or are earmarked for timber production.
