No IRIS Act of 2025

Introduced February 18, 2025

AI-Generated Summary

Updated November 24, 2025 at 2:36 AM UTC

The No IRIS Act of 2025 would stop the Environmental Protection Agency from using health risk assessments produced by its Integrated Risk Information System program as a primary source of data in rulemaking, enforcement, permitting, and air‑toxics analysis. By prohibiting reliance on IRIS, the bill aims to change how the EPA bases certain regulatory decisions. The restriction applies to all EPA actions that would otherwise draw on IRIS assessments.

Key Provisions

  • Bars the EPA Administrator from using any Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) assessment as a primary (tier‑1) data source when developing, finalizing, or issuing rules or regulations.
  • Prevents the EPA from relying on IRIS assessments for any regulatory, enforcement, or permitting actions.
  • Stops the EPA from using IRIS assessments to inform air‑toxics assessments, mapping, or screening tools.
