Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Hudson Tenn, of St. Clair County, Michigan, for his extraordinary courage and quick thinking in helping his grandmother during a medical emergency. At just five years old, Hudson demonstrated remarkable bravery when faced with a frightening and unexpected situation.

When Hudson's grandmother suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness, he knew he needed to find help. Despite his young age, Hudson took action, bringing his three-year-old sister along as he ran down the road to find somebody who could help. His quick thinking led neighbors back to his grandmother, allowing them to contact emergency responders and get her the medical attention she needed.

Hudson's actions exemplify the values of courage, compassion, and responsibility. Even in a moment of uncertainty, he remained determined to help his grandmother while looking out for his younger sister. His remarkable response served as a powerful reminder that heroism is not defined by age, but by the willingness to act when someone is in need.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in recognizing Hudson Tenn for his bravery, quick thinking, and compassion.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Senior Chief Petty Officer Donald Jones for his service in the United States Navy and his work supporting fellow veterans in Sandusky. It is my privilege to honor him as our October 2026 Veteran of the Month.

Senior Chief Jones enlisted in the Navy in 1977 after graduating from high school, beginning what would become a 32-year military career spanning active duty and reserve service. After serving aboard two warships and completing shore assignments in Norfolk, Virginia, and San Diego, California, he left active duty in 1987 to spend more time with his wife and three young children. He later took a job at a Michigan foundry and moved his family to Sanilac County.

After ten years in the civilian workforce, Senior Chief Jones joined the Navy Reserve and served with a Seabee battalion at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. In 2003, he returned to active duty. Over the next 16 years, he served aboard four additional ships and spent three years instructing fellow sailors at a naval base in Groton, Connecticut.

Alongside his Navy assignments, he earned a bachelor's degree in business management and graduated from the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island. He also served aboard the USS Enterprise during her final deployment before the historic ship was retired. His final assignment was as an Assistant Supply Officer at Camp David, the presidential retreat.

Senior Chief Jones received numerous military honors, including two Joint Service Commendation Medals, four Navy Commendation Medals, and three Navy Achievement Medals.

After retiring from the Navy, he earned a second bachelor's degree in World History. He and his wife returned to Sandusky to be near their children and grandchildren. He now serves as the Financial Officer for American Legion Post 369.

Mr. Speaker, Senior Chief Jones' dedication to serving others extends well beyond his years in uniform. I am proud to name him our October 2026 Veteran of the Month.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and honor Dan Casey for 15 years of dedicated service to St. Clair County as the leader of the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County.

Mr. Casey joined the EDA as CEO in 2011 after previously serving in economic development roles with the cities of Southfield and Rochester Hills. He truly built a career defined by strengthening Michigan communities and creating opportunities for businesses and residents.

During his tenure with the EDA, Mr. Casey helped guide St. Clair County through significant economic challenges, including the recovery from the 2009 recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, the EDA helped attract the Magna Electric Vehicle Solutions project to the long-vacant St. Clair Industrial Park, strengthen local downtowns, and support entrepreneurs through small business programs.

After 15 years with the EDA, Mr. Casey retired as CEO on September 1, 2026. While he has stepped away from his position, he plans to remain active in the community through board service and devote more time to writing.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in recognizing Dan Casey for his service to St. Clair County. I am proud to honor his dedication to economic development, small businesses, and the communities he has worked to strengthen throughout his career, and I wish him all the best in his retirement.
