Inserted: Consular Operations Sec. __. (a) The Secretary of State shall establish visa processing facilities in Iraq within 180 days of enactment of this Act in which aliens may apply and interview for admission to the United States.
Inserted: (b) The Secretary of State shall report to the Congress no later than 30 days after enactment of this Act on funding and security requirements for consular operations in Iraq in fiscal year 2008.

SA 2730. Mr. LEAHY submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill H.R. 2764, making appropriations for the Department of State, foreign operations, and related programs for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008, and for other purposes; as follows:

On page 232, line 16 insert the following new provision:

“Consular Operations

Sec. __. (a) The Secretary of State shall establish visa processing facilities in Iraq within 180 days of enactment of this Act in which aliens may apply and interview for admission to the United States.

(b) The Secretary of State shall report to the Congress no later than 30 days after enactment of this Act on funding and security requirements for consular operations in Iraq in fiscal year 2008.”.
