For purposes of this paragraph, the term 'child' has the meaning prescribed by section 1477(d) of this title".

    Inserted: SEC. 642. INCLUSION OF SERVICE AFTER SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, IN DETERMINATION OF REDUCED ELIGIBILITY AGE FOR RECEIPT OF NON-REGULAR SERVICE RETIRED PAY.

    Inserted: Section 12731(f)(2)(A) of title 10, United States Code, is amended--

    Inserted: (1) by striking "the date of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008" and inserting "September 11, 2001"; and

    Inserted: (2) by striking "in any fiscal year after such date" and inserting "in any fiscal year after fiscal year 2001".

Mr. CHAMBLISS (for himself, Mr. Kerry, Mr. Alexander, Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Lincoln, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Pryor, Mr. Sessions, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Nelson of Florida, Mr. Thune, Mr. Inhofe, Mr. Smith, Mr. Isakson, and Mr. Whitehouse) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 3001, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2009 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:

At the end of subtitle D of title VI, add the following:

SEC. 642. INCLUSION OF SERVICE AFTER SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, IN DETERMINATION OF REDUCED ELIGIBILITY AGE FOR RECEIPT OF NON-REGULAR SERVICE RETIRED PAY.

Section 12731(f)(2)(A) of title 10, United States Code, is amended--

(1) by striking “the date of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008” and inserting “September 11, 2001”; and

(2) by striking “in any fiscal year after such date” and inserting “in any fiscal year after fiscal year 2001”.
