SA 6798. Ms. HIRONO submitted an amendment intended to be proposed to amendment SA 6776 proposed by Mr. Thune (for Mr. Cruz (for himself, Ms. Cantwell, Mr. Schmitt, and Mr. Coons)) to the bill S. 4668, to protect the name, image, and likeness rights of, and provide protections for, student athletes and to promote fair competition among intercollegiate athletics, [[Page S4869]] and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: On page 51, strike lines 20 through 24 and insert the following: (c) Appointment and Term.-- (1) Appointment.--The Ombudsman shall be appointed by the Secretary of Education after meaningful consultation with relevant stakeholders, which shall include college presidents, athletic directors, college coaches, and student athletes, among others, representing geographically diverse schools and schools of different size (including large schools (more than $80,000,000 in athletics revenue), medium schools (more than $50,000,000 but less than $80,000,000 in athletics revenue), and small schools (less than $50,000,000 in athletics revenue)), from a diverse variety of sports and different divisions (Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3). (2) Term.--The Ombudsman shall be appointed for a term of 7 years and may serve not more than 2 full terms. (d) Administration.-- (1) In general.--An intercollegiate athletic association shall hire and provide salary, benefits, and administrative expenses for an Ombudsman and support staff for the Office. (2) Salary.--The Ombudsman shall receive an annual salary of $197,200 per year, plus benefits. (3) Budget.--The budget of the Ombudsman shall be not less than $25,000,000 per year. (e) Confidentiality.-- ______
