Continuing Appropriations Amendments Act, 2018

Introduced March 2, 2017

AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 15, 2026 at 1:22 PM UTC

The Continuing Appropriations Amendments Act of 2018 updates the 2018 Continuing Appropriations Act to make sure that federal workers and certain District of Columbia employees who were furloughed because of a funding gap starting around February 9, 2018, receive their regular pay once the gap ends. It also officially treats that gap period as part of the appropriations timeframe and validates spending done to keep essential services running.

Key Provisions

  • Requires any employee furloughed due to the February 9, 2018 funding lapse to be paid their normal salary as soon as practicable after the lapse ends.
  • Defines “employee” to cover federal workers, District of Columbia Courts staff, District of Columbia Public Defender Service staff, and other D.C. government employees.
  • Extends the period covered by the Continuing Appropriations Act to include the lapse period beginning around February 9, 2018.
  • Ratifies and approves all obligations incurred to maintain essential activities and orderly government shutdown during the lapse, as long as they comply with the act’s provisions.
