Sponsored by Steve KingRep. Steve King (R-IA)
Introduced January 3, 2017

AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 15, 2026 at 11:03 AM UTC

The ObamaCare Repeal Act would nullify the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. By repealing these laws, the bill would restore the pre‑2010 legal framework for health insurance, Medicaid, and related programs, effectively treating the two acts as if they had never been enacted. The change would affect all Americans who receive health coverage through the ACA, as well as insurers, employers, and state Medicaid programs.

Key Provisions

  • Repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, undoing all of its provisions and restoring any statutes that were changed or removed by that law.
  • Repeals the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, similarly restoring any prior statutes altered by that legislation.
