Highly Rural Veteran Transportation Program Extension Act

Sponsored by Don YoungRep. Don Young (R-AK)
Introduced January 4, 2017

AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 15, 2026 at 11:18 AM UTC

The Highly Rural Veteran Transportation Program Extension Act prolongs the Department of Veterans Affairs’ authority to give grant money to veterans service organizations that provide transportation for veterans living in highly rural areas. The bill simply pushes the program’s authorization deadline from 2017 to 2018, keeping the program funded for an additional year and continuing support for those veterans.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the existing law (Section 307(d) of the Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act) to replace the year “2017” with “2018,” thereby extending the grant‑making authority for one more year.
