The FDR Historic Preservation Act authorizes the addition of roughly 89 acres of land, known as the Morgan Property, to the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site in New York. It lets the Interior Department obtain the land through donation, purchase, or exchange, and requires the related map to be publicly viewable. After acquisition, the site’s boundaries will be updated and the new land will be managed as part of the historic site.

Key Provisions

  • The Secretary of the Interior may acquire about 89 acres of the “Morgan Property” for the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, using donation, purchase from a willing seller with donated funds, or land exchange.
  • A map showing the proposed addition must be made available for public inspection at the National Park Service.
  • Once acquired, the site’s boundary will be adjusted to include the new land, and the land will be managed as part of the historic site under existing laws.
