AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 15, 2026 at 4:07 PM UTC

The Home Mortgage Disclosure Adjustment Act changes the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act to clarify which banks and other depository institutions must keep records and publicly disclose mortgage lending data. It adds exemptions for smaller lenders and makes a minor correction to a citation in the law. The bill mainly affects depository institutions that originate mortgage loans or open‑end credit lines.

Key Provisions

  • Creates an exemption for depository institutions that originated fewer than 500 closed‑end mortgage loans in each of the two most recent calendar years; those institutions would not have to meet certain HMDA reporting requirements for those loans.
  • Creates a similar exemption for institutions that originated fewer than 500 open‑end lines of credit in each of the two most recent calendar years; those institutions would be relieved of the same reporting requirements for those credit lines.
  • Makes a technical correction to the reference in the statute, changing a citation from “section 303(2)(A)” to “section 303(3)(A)”.
