The Justice Against Corruption on K Street (JACK) Act of 2018 changes the Lobbying Disclosure Act to require lobbyists who have been convicted of serious crimes to publicly disclose those convictions. It adds a new reporting requirement that lists the date and type of offense for any lobbyist found guilty of bribery, extortion, embezzlement, illegal kickbacks, tax evasion, fraud, conflicts of interest, false statements, perjury, or money laundering. The rule applies to all registered lobbyists and the information must appear in both their initial registration and their quarterly reports.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the lobbyist registration form to include a new item (paragraph 7) that requires any lobbyist convicted of the listed offenses to provide the conviction date and a description of the crime.
  • Amends the quarterly lobbying reports to add a new item (paragraph 6) that requires the same conviction information to be reported each quarter.
