Health Insurance Tax Relief Act of 2018

Introduced June 13, 2018

AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 15, 2026 at 10:19 PM UTC

The Health Insurance Tax Relief Act of 2018 proposes to push back the date when health insurance companies must start paying the annual fee required by the Affordable Care Act. Instead of the fee taking effect on December 31, 2019, the bill moves the start date to after December 31, 2020. This change would give insurers a one‑year reprieve from the fee.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the ACA’s Section 9010(j)(3) to replace the fee’s effective date of December 31, 2019 with December 31, 2020, meaning the annual fee on health insurers won’t apply for calendar years beginning after 2019.
