H.Res. 252 is a procedural resolution that lets the House move forward with two separate measures: H.R. 7, which would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act to give stronger remedies to women who are paid less because of their sex, and H.Res. 124, which expresses opposition to banning openly transgender people from serving in the military. The resolution sets the rules for how each measure will be debated and voted on, waiving normal points of order and limiting debate time.

Key Provisions

  • Authorizes the Speaker to bring H.R. 7 before the Committee of the Whole, dispense with its first reading, waive all points of order, and limit general debate to one hour split evenly between the Education and Labor chair and ranking minority member.
  • Specifies how amendments to H.R. 7 will be handled, including a pre‑approved substitute amendment and limits on further changes.
  • Allows H.Res. 124 to be considered immediately after adoption of the resolution, also waiving points of order and limiting debate to one hour split between the Armed Services chair and ranking minority member.
