Plasma Donation Awareness Act

Introduced April 21, 2021

AI-Generated Summary

Updated February 8, 2026 at 1:57 AM UTC

The Plasma Donation Awareness Act updates the Department of Health and Human Services’ public awareness campaign about blood donation to also promote plasma donation. It does this by amending the CARES Act to explicitly reference plasma alongside blood, ensuring the campaign includes information on plasma donation. The change affects the federal public‑health messaging and any programs that rely on the CARES Act’s language about blood supply.

Key Provisions

  • Amends the heading of Section 3226 of the CARES Act to read “Importance of the blood and plasma supply.”
  • Inserts the words “and plasma” after each occurrence of “blood” in Section 3226 of the CARES Act.
  • Updates the table of contents for Section 3226 in the CARES Act to reflect the new title including plasma.
