The Veterans Readiness and Employment Transparency Act of 2025 updates the law to improve how the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reaches out to veterans with service‑connected disabilities about training and rehabilitation programs. It requires the VA to provide clear contact information, hold regular briefings and question‑and‑answer sessions with schools, and report annually on program extensions. The bill also sets a 30‑day deadline for the VA to decide on extension requests.

Key Provisions

  • The VA must add a dedicated phone number to its Education Call Center and list a name, phone number, and email on each regional office website for veteran inquiries.
  • VA employees who counsel veterans must attend monthly Q&A sessions with school certifying officials.
  • Veteran readiness and employment counselors must give in‑person briefings at each educational institution in their region, with virtual options for schools more than 150 miles away.
  • The Secretary must submit an annual report to congressional veterans committees on the number of extension requests for vocational rehabilitation, including how many were approved or denied.
  • When a veteran requests an extension of a rehabilitation program, the VA must approve or reject the request within 30 days.
