Main Street Parity Act

Introduced October 14, 2025

AI-Generated Summary

Updated January 29, 2026 at 5:31 AM UTC

The Main Street Parity Act changes the Small Business Investment Act’s rules for loans that help small businesses buy, build, convert, or expand a plant. By dropping two of the existing eligibility conditions and expanding the remaining one, the bill aims to make it easier for small firms to qualify for these loans. The changes affect any small business seeking SBA financing for plant‑related projects.

Key Provisions

  • Eliminates two existing eligibility requirements (the former clauses (ii) and (iii)) for SBA loans used to acquire, build, convert, or expand a plant.
  • Adds the word “or” to the end of the remaining clause (i), effectively broadening that criterion.
  • Renumbers the former clause (iv) as the new clause (ii) to reflect the removal of the other clauses.
  • Updates a related reference in Section 502(3)(B)(ii) so it points to the revised clause (i) of subparagraph (C).
