AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 3, 2026 at 8:46 AM UTC

The bill would change Title 31 of the United States Code to bar the issuance of any U.S. currency or securities that display the signature of the sitting President. It would apply to all such issuances while a person is serving as President, and any exception would have to come from a later law that specifically authorizes the waiver.

Key Provisions

  • Adds a new rule to Section 5114(b) stating that currency or securities bearing a President’s signature may not be issued during that President’s term.
  • Allows the prohibition to be lifted only if a future statute is passed that expressly waives the rule.
