The Vote by Mail Protection Act of 2026 would cancel Executive Order 14399, which directed federal agencies to verify citizenship and protect the integrity of federal elections. By nullifying the order, the bill stops any agency from carrying out its requirements and bars the use of agency funds for those activities. The change primarily affects federal agencies that might have been implementing the order.

Key Provisions

  • Declares Executive Order 14399 to have no legal effect, effectively repealing it.
  • Requires that any contracts or arrangements made by agencies to follow the order be terminated.
  • Prohibits the use of agency funds for any activities that would have been carried out under the order.
