Fair Milk Pricing for Farmers Act

Introduced February 13, 2025

AI-Generated Summary

Updated November 24, 2025 at 2:40 AM UTC

The Fair Milk Pricing for Farmers Act amends the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 to make dairy processors disclose detailed cost and yield data. It expands existing reporting requirements so manufacturers must provide cost information for every product they process at a given facility. The Secretary of Agriculture must compile this data and issue a public report on dairy processing costs starting three years after enactment and continuing biennially. The goal is to increase transparency and help ensure fair milk pricing for farmers.

Key Provisions

  • Requires any dairy product manufacturer that already reports under the Act to also report the production cost and product yield for all products processed at the same facility.
  • The Secretary of Agriculture must collect this cost and yield information and publish a report on dairy processing costs no later than three years after the law takes effect, and then every two years thereafter.
