AI-Generated Summary

Updated November 24, 2025 at 3:45 AM UTC

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 changes how Title IX determines a student’s sex for athletics. It requires schools that receive federal funds to base sex on a person’s biology at birth, and it makes it a violation for those schools to allow anyone identified as male to compete in women’s or girls’ sports. The bill mainly affects K‑12 schools, colleges, and other athletic programs that receive federal money.

Key Provisions

  • Adds a new violation to Title IX: any federally funded school or program that lets a person whose sex is male compete in a women’s or girls’ athletic event would be violating the law.
  • Defines “sex” for Title IX compliance solely by a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.
