AI-Generated Summary

Updated April 30, 2026 at 4:53 AM UTC

This joint resolution uses the Congressional Review Act to reject a rule the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) submitted that would withdraw an existing regulation on "Fair Credit Reporting; Name-Only Matching Procedures." By disapproving the withdrawal, the resolution keeps the original credit‑reporting rule in effect and prevents the CFPB’s new rule from having any legal force.

Key Provisions

  • Congress formally disapproves the CFPB’s rule that would withdraw the "Fair Credit Reporting; Name-Only Matching Procedures" regulation.
  • The disapproved rule is declared to have no force or effect, meaning it cannot be implemented.
  • The original credit‑reporting rule remains in force, continuing to apply to credit bureaus and other entities that handle consumer credit information.
