Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

Across the country, more than 60 million Americans are affected by mental illness. Unfortunately, many of those 60 million feel that they are alone, but we are here to let those struggling know that they are not alone.

No matter how dark the world may seem, there are people who care for you, and there are resources to help within an arm's reach. This world is worth being a part of, and you are too special for the darkness to win.

As co-chair of the bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorder Task Force, we are encouraging everyone to spread awareness about suicide prevention. Help us break the stigma around mental health. Lend a hand. Look out for those in need of help, and remember it is okay not to be okay, but it is not okay to try and fight this on your own.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Ray Holdwick, the Veteran of the Month for September from Michigan's 9th Congressional District. I am honored to highlight the exemplary service and dedication of this true American hero, whose courage and commitment has left a lasting mark on our nation's history.

Ray was born and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan, graduating from Sterling Heights High School in 1981. Demonstrating an early commitment to service, he enlisted in the U.S. Army that same year. From there, he joined the 170th Military Police Company. Ray was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco from 1981 to 1983, where he was charged with maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of his fellow service members. His military service extended into the reserves from 1983 to 1987, where he continued to exemplify the virtues of discipline and dedication.

Beyond his military service, Ray's commitment to community support and law enforcement has been unwavering. In 2006, he and his wife embarked on a venture to establish a donation-based support program for K-9 units through the Macomb County Police Department. This initiative reflects Ray's ongoing dedication to supporting our law enforcement community in a meaningful and impactful way.

Ray and his wife also founded Rocko's Pet Shop in Macomb Township, a business that not only serves the community but also champions charitable causes for law enforcement. Their active involvement in local charities has made a lasting difference, enhancing the resources available to K-9 units and strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community they protect.

Mr. Speaker, Ray Holdwick's life story is one of service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to our country and his community. It is with immense pride that I honor him today as the Veteran of the Month for September, a fitting tribute for a distinguished veteran who truly embodies the spirit of American valor and resilience.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in expressing our deepest gratitude for Roy Holdwick. His life of service serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifice of our service members and their families.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to extend my most heartfelt wishes to my good friend Jim Ervin as he celebrates his 80th birthday.

A proud veteran, businessman, and inspiration to many, Jim's background has allowed him to excel in everything he has done. At 80, Jim continues to apply his wealth of experience to our Nation's defense industry. As a result, Jim is widely renowned for his ability to forge meaningful relationships between policymakers, business leaders, and innovators throughout the country. His tireless work ethic is one that should inspire us all.

Throughout his incredible 20-year service in the U.S. Air Force, Jim was able to see--and experience--almost every aspect of our military, foreign and domestic. As a logistician, he ensured that our troops in the Middle East and South America had everything they needed. As a legislative liaison, he advocated on behalf of the Air Force to make sure that our airmen were always ready to serve. Jim is someone who will always put others first, especially in service to his country.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in wishing Jim a happy 80th birthday. I am proud to be able to call him my friend, and I sincerely look forward to what the future has in store for him.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Huron County Community Foundation. Since 1994, this organization has been a cornerstone of meaningful change and community development throughout Huron County, which I am proud to represent in Congress.

For three decades, the Huron County Community Foundation has made good on their mission to ``Invest FOR GOOD . . . FOR EVER.'' This motto has, without a doubt, fostered legacies that will shape Huron County's future for years to come.

The foundation's impact covers a wide array of needs throughout our community, from healthcare to education and beyond. Through grants and other donations, the foundation has empowered countless families and organizations to succeed in their charitable goals. It goes without saying, but the amount of work that goes into an organization like this should be inspiring to us all. As we honor this milestone, it is important to recognize how the foundation--and all its beneficiaries-- have played a central role in nurturing Huron County. The very spirit of the foundation, coupled with their dedication to their community, has been central in guaranteeing a bright future.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in congratulating the Huron County Community Foundation on 30 years of outstanding service. I look forward to their continued success for many years to come.

Mr Speaker, I rise today to congratulate James and Pamela Reid, two lifelong farmers who were recently Inducted into the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame.

James and Pamela began their journey in agriculture after acquiring a modest farm in 1978, which since then has transformed into the highly productive Reid Dairy Farm. Under their management, the farm expanded from 120 to 900 acres, supporting 300 cows. Their focus on productivity and employing new technology has significantly enhanced milk production, leading to an impressive 95 pounds per cow all while maintaining superior milk quality standards.

Their leadership extends beyond the fields and into civic engagement, where James' roles as Grant Township Supervisor and Chair of the St. Clair County Farmland Preservation Board reflect his deep commitment to our community. These positions allowed him to influence local agricultural policies positively and advocate for the preservation and sustainability of farming in the region.

Moreover, the Reid's proactive approach included substantial upgrades to their farming infrastructure, adding a modern barn and updating milking systems. These improvements boosted efficiency and served as a showcase for responsible agriculture.

Throughout his career, James has also contributed his expertise to several boards, including the MMPA Dairy Co-Op and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. His leadership as President of the UDIM and his active participation on the Michigan Dairy Market Committee have been crucial in promoting the interests of local dairy farmers and influencing industry standards at both the state and national levels.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in congratulating James and Pamela Reid on their induction into the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame. Their commitment to excellence, ability to adapt to change, and commitment to their community should serve as an inspiration to us all.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the extraordinary service and contributions of Sergeant Lorenzo F. Garrisi, our esteemed August Veteran of the Month for Michigan's 9th Congressional District. Mr. Garrisi's life is a testament to courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment both during his service in the U.S. Army and his work in our community.

Born in Balestrate, Sicily, Lorenzo immigrated to the United States at the age of 7, arriving through Ellis Island, New York, before moving with his family to Detroit. After graduating from East Detroit High School, he attended Lawrence Technological University. However, at the age of 20, Lorenzo left his studies to support his family by working in the family business, Ornamental Iron Works. His sense of duty extended beyond his family obligations when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War on November 14, 1967.

Lorenzo's military career began with basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and he was soon assigned to the 11th Armored Cavalry, First Squadron (C Troop), under the command of General George S. Patton, Jr. His valor and resilience were evident throughout his service in Vietnam. By April 1968, he was deployed to Vietnam, where his bravery and leadership shone brightly. Within a year, Lorenzo was promoted to Sergeant at the age of 21, and he was entrusted with significant responsibilities, including serving as a driver for General Patton on occasion.

Lorenzo's service was marked by extraordinary heroism. He earned two Purple Hearts--one for surviving deadly crossfire while scouting to report back to his base, and another for sustaining shrapnel injuries in his face and back after an RPG attack on the tank he was driving. His selflessness and courage were further recognized with a Bronze Star for saving his captain's life and carrying him to safety following an ambush.

After his distinguished service, Lorenzo returned home and married his wife, Antoinette, in the spring of 1971. Together, they raised three children. Lorenzo then embarked on a successful career as a builder, founding ``Sunshine Homes'' in the early 1980s. Now retired, Lorenzo continues to serve his community with the same dedication he showed in his military career. As the current president of the ``Americans of Italian Origin'' (AIO), he plays a pivotal role in the AIO Annual Seafood Dinner, raising thousands of dollars in scholarships for the children and grandchildren of local Italian Americans. Lorenzo also contributes to the Quality of Life Committee of ``Focus Macomb,'' offering valuable recommendations to improve living conditions in Macomb County. His past involvement with the Italian American Chamber of Commerce further highlights his commitment to community service.

Mr. Speaker, Lorenzo F. Garrisi's life of service and leadership exemplifies the highest ideals of patriotism and dedication. His heroism in Vietnam and his continued community service serves as a beacon of inspiration for us all. On behalf of a grateful Nation, I ask my colleagues to join me in expressing our deepest gratitude and admiration for Sergeant Lorenzo F. Garrisi's exemplary service to our country and community.

Mr. Speaker, I wanted to take a brief opportunity to recognize Dan Wunderlich, who for over two years has served the People of Michigan's 9th District as my director of communications.

In 2017, Dan began his career with Representative Dave Trott as an intern. Since then, he has served a United States Senator and three House Representatives including myself.

At every opportunity, Dan has proven his devotion to his community, his family, his friends, and his team. He has been an integral part of my office, has always brightened everyone's day, and will forever be someone I can rely on for advice.

We will all miss Dan's role in my office, but I am heartened that he will have the opportunity to spend more time with his family and find success in other ventures. I sincerely hope that he will come visit us again sometime soon.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in thanking Dan Wunderlich for his years of service to the United States Congress.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the outstanding service and dedication of Mr. Fred Clifton Stinson, Jr., our esteemed Veteran of the Month from Riley Township. Mr. Stinson's life story is one of extraordinary courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to duty, both in the United States Marine Corps and as a distinguished Law enforcement officer.

Born on November 4, 1948, in Bluefield, West Virginia, Fred Stinson Jr. moved to Detroit, Michigan in his childhood in 1954. Mr. Stinson volunteered to enlist in the Marine Corps on April 12, 1967, at the young age of 18. His military career began with bootcamp in San Diego, California. Mr. Stinson then underwent training at Camp Pendleton, excelling in his Infantry Training and later specializing as a radio operator, preparing him for the challenges ahead.

Deployed to Vietnam with the First Shore Party Battalion in Da Nang, Mr. Stinson's bravery was made apparent. As part of the helicopter support team, he played a critical role in coordinating medivacs, essential supplies, and munitions under constant threat from enemy fire. His selfless actions, ensuring the care and dignity of wounded and deceased comrades amid perilous conditions, exemplify the finest traditions of the Marine Corps and the spirit of service that defines our Nation's heroes.

After his service in Vietnam, Mr. Stinson continued to embody the values of honor and duty. In 1991, during Operation Desert Storm, he was called to active duty and stationed in Yuma, Arizona, awaiting deployment to Saudi Arabia. Though the conflict ended swiftly due to the air campaign, Mr. Stinson's readiness, and commitment to serve was unwavering, reflecting his dedication to his country. Mr. Stinson retired from the Marine Corps in 1994 at the rank of Master Sergeant.

After returning to civilian life, Mr. Stinson continued his exemplary service by joining law enforcement. His 25-year tenure with the Detroit Police Department, followed by his invaluable contributions as a tribal police officer with the Saginaw-Chippewa tribe and later as a bailiff with the Clare County Sheriff's Department, underscores his unwavering commitment to public safety and justice.

Mr. Speaker, Fred Clifton Stinson Jr.'s life of service exemplifies the highest ideals of patriotism and sacrifice. His valor under fire, his steadfast leadership, and his enduring commitment to his fellow Marines and citizens of Michigan serve as a testament to his character and dedication. On behalf of a grateful Nation, I ask my colleagues to join me in expressing our deepest gratitude and admiration for Mr. Stinson's service to our country and community.

Mr. Stinson's legacy of courage and service will forever inspire future generations of Americans. We salute you, and we thank you for your selfless dedication to defending our freedoms and upholding the values that make our Nation great.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to commend the brave firefighters from across St. Clair County.

On Sunday, a dangerous fire broke out at an industrial warehouse in Port Huron. Local Fire Departments rushed to the scene and were met with an incredibly complex and nasty fire deep within the metal warehouse.

But this fire wasn't fought alone, as there was a community-wide response from local departments to assist in extinguishing this fire. Firefighters from Port Huron were joined by those from Fort Gratiot, Kimball Township, Marysville, St. Clair, and St. Clair County Homeland Security. When one firefighter had given his all, the next man stepped up and continued the effort to fight this fire.

Thanks to the quick and decisive actions of our local fire departments, this dangerous fire was successfully extinguished without any casualties after a multi-day battle.

Michigan's 9th District is incredibly thankful for the cohesive effort by local fire departments to fight this fire and protect our community.

Madam Speaker, today, our girls are under attack. Our daughters are under attack.

I ask this: What about their freedoms? What about their rights? Do they not have any rights? Do they not have any freedoms?

I say they do. I am here to protect women's and girls' rights and freedoms.

For more than 50 years, Title IX has ensured our daughters have access to quality education and athletic programs. Now, President Biden and his bureaucrats at the Department of Education, are hell-bent on erasing those vital protections for our girls.

This rule to redefine sex discrimination on the basis of gender identity will force schools to provide biological men, who claim to be women, access to women's locker rooms. Yes, that is the truth. That is not fear. That is the truth.

They will also be allowed to go to their same bathrooms. What about our daughters' rights? What about our daughters' freedoms? What about their rights? What about girls' rights and women's rights to have safety and feel secure? Do they not have any rights anymore?

They should not be an expense at all. This is absolutely ridiculous.

You want to talk about us fearmongering? If these allegations that we are talking about right now wouldn't be true, he wouldn't have had to redefine the law without congressional consent. He did it with a stroke of his pen.

The rule to redefine sex discrimination on the basis of gender identity will force schools to provide biological men, who claim to be women, access to women's locker rooms.

Madam Speaker, that is why this CRA is so important, and that is why I am proud to cosponsor it. Why? Because I will stand up for women and girls.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the remarkable valor and dedication of Lieutenant Patrick L. Rawlings, Sr., our distinguished Veteran of the Month representing Michigan's 9th Congressional District. It is with utmost pride and respect that I highlight the extraordinary service of this true American patriot.

Lieutenant Patrick Rawlings was born and raised in Keyser, West Virginia, where he graduated high school, and later attended Potomac State College from 1961-1962. His exemplary military career began at 19 years old, when he enlisted in the United States Army. After enlisting, he began his training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and later received Artillery Advanced individual training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He continued his training, graduating with honors from the Officer Candidate School earning the esteemed rank of 2ND Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Patrick Rawlings was then assigned to the 1ST Special Forces Group in Okinawa, which came contingent with more rigorous training; including Jump School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His dedication to excellence and unwavering courage were further demonstrated during his deployments to Vietnam, where he served as a member of A-Teams A/221 and A/213 assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group. His leadership, valor, and unwavering commitment to his comrades-in-arms earned him the admiration and respect of all who served alongside him.

Throughout his impressive military career, Lieutenant Rawlings exemplified the highest ideals of service and sacrifice, earning numerous commendations and accolades, including the Airborne qualification, SCUBA School certification, and promotion to the rank of 1ST Lieutenant. His courage under fire and unwavering commitment to his fellow service members serve as a testament to his character and dedication to duty.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in expressing our deepest thanks to Lieutenant Patrick L. Rawlings, Sr. His life of service and sacrifice serves as a powerful reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to those who have defended our freedoms at home and abroad.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the extraordinary life and service of Stanislau ``Stan'' Wojcik, a proud veteran from Michigan's 9th Congressional District, who passed away on June 9, 2024. Stan's service and courage as a World War II Navy machinist aboard the USS Sarasota (APA-204) left a long-lasting impact on his fellow soldiers and our country.

Born on August 13, 1925, Stan Wojcik exemplified the values of duty, honor, and sacrifice from a young age. His service in the South Pacific during World War II, and particularly in his role aboard the USS Sarasota, stands as a testament to his sense of service.

During his service, Stan participated in critical operations throughout the war. Stan aided in disaster relief after the explosion of the USS Mt. Hood, the Battle of Luzon, the Battle of Manila, the Battle of Okinawa, and the invasion of Ie Shima. His contributions during these campaigns underscored his unwavering commitment to defending our Nation during one of the most defining eras of our history.

Throughout his service, Stan Wojcik was awarded numerous honors recognizing his bravery and dedication, including the Combat Action Ribbon, China Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Pin, Philippine Republic Presidential Unit Citation, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in offering Stanislau Wojcik's family, friends, and community our deepest condolences. We are indebted to his generation for their bravery, sacrifice, and leadership.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication of Mr. Tim Webb, who has been selected as Citizen of the Year in the City of New Baltimore, a community I am proud to represent. It is an honor to highlight the remarkable commitment and service of this true community leader.

For over twenty-five years, Tim Webb has called New Baltimore his home. In those years, he has grown to embody community service to so many. His active involvement in various local organizations, including the New Baltimore Civic Club, Goodfellows, and Bay-Rama, all serve to reflect his steadfast commitment to the betterment of his community. Additionally, his dedicated service to the city's Parks & Recreation Commission, his volunteer work for the Salvation Army, and his invaluable contributions to the annual Anchor Bay Country Fest exemplify his selflessness and dedication to fostering a vibrant community.

As 2nd Vice President of the New Baltimore Lions Club, Tim Webb has demonstrated exceptional leadership to the organization's mission. His tireless efforts were recognized with the prestigious Lions Club Melvin Jones Award in 2022, a testament to his steady commitment to serving others and improving the quality of life in New Baltimore.

Tim Webb has earned the admiration and respect of his fellow citizens through his genuine compassion, hard work, and determined dedication to New Baltimore. In the words of his daughter, Melissa Webb, ``My dad's constant volunteerism has undoubtedly made a positive impact on the city. His dedication continues to contribute to the quality of New Baltimore and the well-being of its residents.''

Tim Webb's commitment to enhancing the community's vitality and advocating for its small businesses, restaurants, and organizations have--without a doubt--made him a beloved and respected figure in New Baltimore.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in congratulating Tim Webb on being named New Baltimore's Citizen of the Year. His exceptional record of service, leadership, and devotion to his community should serve as an inspiration to all of us. I am proud to join his family, friends, and the New Baltimore community in congratulating him on this tremendous honor.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to congratulate Alexander's Deli Diner, a family-owned restaurant that has been selected as Business of the Year in the City of New Baltimore. I am proud to honor Robin and Milt Arvanitidis, the proud owners of Alexander's Deli Diner, whose unwavering commitment to excellence has made a lasting impact on their countless patrons and the wider community.

Since the diner opened in 2022, the Arvanitidis has been tirelessly dedicated to providing exceptional food and service. Their team is beyond deserving of the title of ``Business of the Year.''

From supporting first responders and military personnel to collecting food, clothing, and toys for local charities during the holiday season, the Arvanitidis family exemplifies the true spirit of compassion and generosity in their contributions to the Anchor Bay community.

Alexander's Deli Diner's selection as 2024 Business of the year is a testament to the Arvanitidis family's selfless efforts, dedication to excellence, and firm commitment to community service. As they continue to strive for excellence, I am hopeful that their success will continue to inspire others to pursue their dreams all while giving back to our community.
